We have the good fortune of knowing and sharing the stage with many great musicians and friends. This page will be dedicated to the shows we have played with our extended SIDE DEAL family.

Skunk Baxter

Skunk is an icon in the music industry. A Rock N Roll Hall of Fame member, his story is as unforgettable as his guitar prowess.

When Skunk was only 18 years old, he met guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who was just beginning his career as a frontman. For a short period during that year, Baxter was the bassist in a Hendrix-led band called Jimmy James and the Blue Flames.

In 1972 he became a founding member of the band Steely Dan, along with guitarist-bassist Walter Becker, and keyboardist-vocalist Donald Fagen.

While finishing work on Pretzel Logic, Baxter became aware of Becker and Fagen's intentions to retire Steely Dan from touring, and to work almost exclusively with session players in the future. With that in mind, Baxter left the band in 1974 to join The Doobie Brothers.

Tom Luce

Tom Luce is a talented singer/songwriter from San Francisco who co-founded the band Painbirds with Charlie Colin. Tom released a solo record in 2001 that included his single "Good Day" that peaked at #39 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart. “Good Day” was also heard in the movies '13 Going on 30' and 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.'

Gawain Mathews

Gawain Mathews plays lead guitar for the Mickey Hart Band. When not touring with Mikey Hart or recording musicians in his San Francisco studio, Gawain can often be found playing guitar onstage with Side Deal.
